NOTW: Sally Hansen Pacific Blue + Maybelline Blue Freeze

School has kept me from blogging as much as I wanted to this month, especially with finals. I am glad to be back though because winter break has started for me!

About five days ago I bought the Sally Hansen Pacific Blue nail polish, and I was excited to try it because I have heard so many good things about it.
I really like this nail polish because it lasts a very long time without chipping, especially with the Revlon Colorstay top coat.

Then after a few days I got bored and decided to change up my nails by adding stripes with tape.

This is pretty easy to do. First I cut thin pieces of tape and placed them firmly on my nails. Then I painted over my nails with Maybelline Blue Freeze. And after that I gently pulled off the tape and painted on a top coat.

This manicure reminds me of the summer time but I was really excited to try that Sally Hansen Nail Polish. But this can be used to make candy cane nails too! I hope you enjoyed. And what do you think of the stripes? Do you ever wear stripes on your nails?

Stila Shine So Bright Holiday Palette 2012

Stila came out with some small collectible palettes for Holiday 2012. I think these are a good gift idea or stocking stuffer idea, so I decided to do a quick review on it.

This palette is the Stila Shine So Bright Palette, and it comes with 6 eyeshadows and a cream blush/lipstick. It cost about $16 ({12/7/12} Right now it is on sale on Stila's website for $9!!). This product and a few other varieties can be found at Ulta and on Stila's website.

Three of the eyeshadows are matte and the other three are shimmer. I really enjoy that their is a little bit of variety with finishes even though the palette is pretty small!

There is also a nice deep red color for lips/blush. I prefer to use this on the lips because I am a little scared to use a color this dark as a cheek color! The other collectible palettes in this collection have different shades though, so you can find one that will suit your blush or lip color needs!

I think these palettes are a great idea, and it would be a great think to give during the holiday season. All of the eyeshadow shades are nice and have good color payoff. There are also a variety of finishes. And it is nice that a cream lip/cheek color is included. It is pretty small, but it is three products in one! I feel like anyone from a beginner to advanced makeup lover would appreciate this as a gift!

What new holiday sets do you want to try this season? Have you bought any holiday makeup sets as gifts?

Review: Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Flushed

A couple weeks ago during Black Friday I got this Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Flushed in a set with a brush and an emphasEYES cream eyeshadow for only $22. I haven't been using this for a really long time, but I can already tell that it is going to be a favorite.

This blush is a berry color and it is very bright. It has a matte finish, comes with 5.6 grams of product, and cost around $25.

This product also has a nice mirror which definitely comes in handy when you bring this with you on-the-go.

Here is a swatch of the blush. On the right I just used a brush and applied it to my skin. It looks a little too bright but you can see in the blended swatch on the left that this is very wearable. It is also easy to blend.
I know this is called a 12 hour blush, but I really didn't think it would last that long, so I put it to the test. I put it on at 6am one morning, and when I checked again at 6pm you could barley see the blush. I guess that is better than most of the blushes that I've tried, but I think it should be called an 8 hour blush instead because it looked much better earlier in the day. It could be because I have oily skin though. Maybe on a person with normal or dry skin it last 12 hours.

Also The blush has good color payoff, which you can see from the swatch above. It is also smooth and blends easily on the skin. The only negative thing I could really say about this blush is that it isn't exactly twelve hours on me (it is close though!) and the price is a little expensive. I really like this though, so I believe it is worth the price.

I really like that these come in twelve different colors. I am definitely going to try more colors out because I am happy with this one. If you are looking for a high-end blush to try I would recommend this one, because you don't really need to worry about it disappearing on you in a few hours.

Have you tried any Tarte blushes before? What brand do you like the most for blushes?

Review: Mary Kay Lash Love Waterproof Mascara

A while ago I did a review on the Regular Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara. Today I am reviewing the waterproof version, because a few of you have asked how it is.

This mascara is $15.00 on Mary Kay's website or you can buy from a Mary Kay consultant. It comes in black and brown.

The wand, shown here, has plastic bristles. They are kind of sharp and spiky, which makes it good for separation of the eyelashes.

Now here is my natural lashes

And here is how my lashes look with two coats of mascara on

This mascara claims to be very separating and you can see that this mascara added a lot of length and separation to my lashes. This didn't clump with two coats, but if you add more than two coats it can start to get a little clumpy. This isn't the most volumizing mascara, but it doesn't really claim to be one.

Also I can see a difference between this mascara and the original one. This one is a dryer formula and that made it clump less than the original. I checked how waterproof it was too by splashing water on my face. It did not come off when exposed to water even after I rubbed it, so it is definitely waterproof!

I really enjoy this mascara, and I love the effect that it gives my eyelashes. The price is pretty good for how well it works. I also love not having to worry about smudging throughout the day. I can't think of anything bad about this product, and it is already becoming one of my favorite mascaras. If you are thinking about trying one of the lash love mascaras I recommend trying this one over the original one.

I hope this review was helpful to you! What mascara are you using right now?

NOTD: Revlon Bold Sangria + Triangle Design

Today when I got home I was in a pretty bad mood. I just had a lot of work to do, school was stressing me out, and I feels like I'm having issues with almost all of my friends. When I'm in a sour mood usually doing something makeup related or beauty related can make me feel so much better! Playing with makeup or painting my nails is almost therapeutic to me! Most of my friends and family wonder how doing beauty related things can have such a large effect on me, but I hope some of you understand.

Anyways, on youtube I have seen a lot of tutorials on how to make a triangle nail design, so I decided to try it out. The main color I used is Revlon Bold Sangria. It is a very deep purple polish. Then I let it dry completely, and I put pieces of tape on the sides my nails to create a triangle shape. Next I painted over the middle triangle shape, and I peeled off the tape which created a crisp, clean line. Then I used the Revlon Colorstay topcoat to add shine. It may sound confusing but, it was soo easy! Like I said earlier there are lots of videos on youtube that show you step by step how to do this.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my recreation of this easy nail design. Would you ever try it? Does nail polish make you happy?

Favorite Top Coat: Revlon Colorstay

Today I would like to share my favorite topcoat ever! It is called the Revlon Colorstay Top Coat.

This stuff is awesome! I feel like Revlon gave this nail polish some super powers or something because like the name suggests, it lasts a very long time! Normally my nail polish chips in about 3-4 days. One time with this nail polish I wore a nail polish on my nails for 2 weeks with hardly any chipping! And it also stays very shiny. I wash dishes, clean, and I'm usually pretty hard on my hands; but two weeks?! I am very impressed. Most of the time I keep it on for 5-6 days and it hardly chips.

This top coat also dries my nails very fast. It is not as quick drying as Sally Hansen Insta Dry top coat, but I don't have to worry about smudging my nails, putting a dent in the, or waking up with the imprint of my pillow in my nails. It goes on smooth and doesn't cause bubbles or shrink my polish. The brush is also wide which adds ease to application. It is actually like small brushes in one, which you can see in the picture below.

Overall I think this is a great top coat, and I recommend it to anyone that paints their nails. Although I paint my nails pretty often, it is nice that this has long wear abilities for when I want to be lazy. If you are out of top coat and want to try a new one I would definitely suggest trying this one!

Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoyed! What top coat do you usually use?

New Maybelline Limited Edition Baby Lips

Maybelline makes a lip balm called Baby Lips which are one of my favorite lip balms. They have four tinted lip balms and two clear lip balms. I did a review a while bag which you can see HERE if you want to see why I love them so much.

Recently Maybelline came out with limited edition shades and I found them yesterday at Walgreens. I probably shouldn't have bought more lip balm, but I couldn't resist because these are one of my favorite products.

Three of these shades are new while Peach Kiss is one of the original shades. All of these smell really fruity and moisturize my lips nicely. From what I can tell they work about the same as the original ones. I would recommend looking for these because they are limited edition! I have seen them in most drugstores and I also saw them in Walmart.

Have you tried Maybelline Baby Lips before? What is your favorite drugstore lip balm?

NOTD: Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquer in Blue Freeze

Yesterday I bought this Maybelline nail polish from Target for $2.99 in the color Blue Freeze. I was very excited to try it because I enjoy wearing dark colors on my nails during fall and winter. This color is a very dark blue with tiny specs of purple and blue shimmer.

In the pictures I am wearing two coats of the nail polish and I am using the Revlon Colorstay Top Coat.

I am impressed with this nail polish because I thought it was going to be sheer. It was actually very opaque after two coats, and the shimmer showed up very nicely. I looks the same on my nails as it does in the bottle!  I would recommend trying this nail polish if you like dark colors. I am probably going to try more colors in the Maybelline Color Show line because I enjoyed this one so much!

Whats your favorite drugstore nail polish brand?

NOTD Sinful Colors Irish Green

Today I want to show you guys a nail polish that I thought was appropriate for this time of the month since it is almost Halloween! Maybe it's just me but slime colored greens like this really make me think of Halloween.

I have on four coats of the polish and I used Revlon Colorstay Top Coat (aka the best topcoat ever).

I really like this color, but my only issue with this nail polish is the fact that it takes too many coats to look like the color in the bottle. In the picture I have on 4 coats of the nail polish ( kinda crazy huh?), but the top coat I used allowed it to dry very quickly. I would only recommend this polish if you have a good top coat that dries nail polish quickly. I would imagine that this would look way better over a white nail polish, so I may have to try that out soon!

Have you ever been excited to try a nail polish only to find out that it was unexpectedly sheer? Well, at least this nail polish was only $1.99!

Target Fall Beauty Bag!

Every season on the Target Style Facebook page, they have giveaways for free beauty bags. I signed up for one a few weeks ago and received it today. Here are the items I got:

Every thing came in this cute little cheetah print bag.

These shampoo/conditioner samplers were inside of it. From left to right: Fekkai Glossing Shampoo and Conditioner, and Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Total Hair.

This also came with (from left to right) the Loreal Ever Creme Nourishing shampoo, conditioner, and hair masque; and Jergens Daily moisture Lotion.

The last things it came with are the Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer and a coupon book for beauty products.

I am really excited to try out these products, especially the hair products! If you want a beauty bag next season I would go like the Target style page on Facebook and start checking the page around the time that the season is changing.

Mary Kay Nourishine Lip Gloss in Mango Tango

For some reason I have been loving wearing red/darker lip colors lately, so I have been enjoying using this Mary Kay Nourishine Lip Gloss in Mango Tango.

This color is a bright orange/red and it looks the same on the lips as it does in the tube! It cost about $12.

It also has a doe-foot applicator that allows precise application.

Here is a swatch of the lip gloss. As you can see it has nice color payoff for a lip gloss. It is also very shiny!

I would recommend trying this lip gloss because it is not sticky, and last a few hours on my lips. I also enjoy its small packaging with the doe-foot applicator, and the opacity is nice too. I find myself reaching for this every time I want a red lip that isn't too dramatic. I can't find anything negative to say about this which is rare for most of the lip products I use. I think the only thing some people will have a problem with is the price, which I do wish was a little lower. I do not mind paying $12 for this though because it works just as well as some lip glosses that are double the price. I give this a 9.5/10

I hope you enjoyed this review! Do you enjoy wearing darker lip colors during the fall season?

NYC Liquid Lipshine Lipgloss Review!

For a long time I have been using these lipglosses called the NYC Liquid Lipshine Lipgloss. When I first purchased them I was amazed at the quality of these lipglosses considering I only paid $1.99 each for them.

I have the colors Midtown Mulberry (reddish berry) and Nude York City (shimmery nude).

This product has a very nice doe- food applicator, making the application very easy and precise.

Here are the swatches for each shade. Nude York City is on top and Midtown Mulberry is on the bottom.

As you cans see from the picture this product had nice color pay off. They aren't sticky, they're cheap, and they have a sweet smell. The only bad thing I can think of about this product is it may feel a little heavy on the lips which may bother some people, but it doesn't bother me.

Overall, I think for the price this is a great quality lip gloss. I would recommend it to anyone that loves lipgloss because even thought it is cheap it works better than many of the lipglosses I own. I give this lipgloss a 9/10

Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque

I usually don't do skin care post on this blog, but I have been using this product lately that works great! It is called the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. This is a face mask that can be used to dry up acne, get rid of black heads, and shrink enlarged pores. I have seen this mask at most drugstores, and also stores like Target and Walmart. It is also very cheap. I have seen this priced at $3-$4.

The Mint Julep Mask is green colored and smells minty. When I use this all over my face it has a slight tingling sensation at first, but after a minute or two I can only smell it.

I used this as a spot treatment when I get a pimple, and it works so well for me. If I leave it just on the pimple it reduces the size by so much, and in 1-2 day it is gone! Also if I see a pimple coming on at night I put it just on the pimple, and my the morning I can't even see it! The only issue I see with this product is it's pore reducing claim. The pores on my nose are pretty large, and I don't see any difference when I use this product. I also do not know about the black head claim because I do not have black heads.

Since this product is very cheap it is worth trying in my opinion, especially for people with acne prone skin. Overall I think the Mint Julep Mask is very effective in treating my skin, and I can see myself repurchasing it for a long time. I give it an 8/10

Do you use a mask as part of your skincare routine? Which facial mask is your favorite?

Spider Web Inspired Eye of the Day

I am excited about this month because Halloween is coming up! Lately I have been trying to think of ways to do Halloween themed makeup. I have seen a few people do spider web inspired eye makeup, so I decided to recreate my own.

This look was pretty easy to create! I used a liquid eyeliner by Maybelline to draw lines going from my upper lash line to my eye brow. Then I used curved strokes to connect the lines together. For mascara I used Maybelline Mega Plus.

I hope you enjoyed my simple Halloween look! It is pretty dramatic, but it would be great for parties or to add to a costume!

September Favorites 2012!

I think September is the best month ever (that has nothing to do with the fact that my birthday is in September.. haha), and I'm kind of sad that it is almost over! During this month I started using a few new products that I have really enjoyed, so here are my favorite products of the month:

(from left to right)
1. Maybelline Baby Lips in Grape Vine: I have used this lip balm a lot this month because it is purple, and this is a nice, subtle way to do purple/berry lips for the fall! It is also very moisturizing, and it smells amazing! I have a full review on all the Maybelline Baby Lips that I own HERE.

2. Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner Pen: I have been using this almost everyday! It is a very black liquid eyeliner with a very fine tip. This makes application very easy, so I reach for this eyeliner before all of my others. I have a full review on this one HERE.

3. Mary Kay Sheer Mineral Pressed Powder: This month I haven't been using any liquid foundations or tinted moisturizers. Instead I have been using this pressed powder because it feels very light, controls my oil, and has nice coverage!

4.Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara: This is my most used mascara this month because it separates my lashes, gives me length, and it doesn't make my eyelashes feel hard. I have a full review on this one as well HERE.

5.Maybelline Color Tattoo in Gold Shimmer: I have used this shade more than any other of my color tattoos this month because I love this color so much. I like using this with cranberry colored eyeshadows for fall inspired eye makeup. It also looks beautiful with green and purple. I have review and swatches HERE.

6. NYC Liquid Lip Shine In Midtown Mulberry: This is another berry lip product that I have been using. It is not sticky, it's cheap, and it has very nice color payoff for a lip gloss. If you have never tried NYC lip glosses I would recommend trying them because they are great quality!

I hope you enjoyed reading about the products I have been loving this month! I know I included a lot of Maybelline products, but they have been making a lot of great products this year. What makeup have you been using this month?

Sephora Birthday Mini Haul

My birthday was this month, and if you are signed up as a beauty insider at Sephora you get a free birthday gift every year. If you go to the store you can get it for free, but if you order the gift online you must make a purchase (no minimum required). Since I didn't feel like going to the store I bought an eyeshadow.

The Sephora eyeshadow I got is called Dreamy Blue, and the Birthday gift this year is the Fresh Sugar Kisses Mini Lip Duo. It comes with a clear and tinted lip treatment.

I also got a bunch of free samples:

If you haven't signed up to be a Sephora Beauty Insider yet I would recommend it, because they seem to give out nice things each year!

Sigma Beauty Expert Brow Design Kit Review!

Sigma recently created a brow kit filled with all of the tools needed to create beautiful eyebrows! I am going to review each product that comes inside and let you know if it is worth the hefty price tag.

All the products in this kit come in a neatly organized box. Here you can see the 2 brow pencils, pencil sharpener, 5 brow powders, double ended brow gel, and double ended brown brush. These can all be used to fill in your brows.

And here you can see that is comes with a mirror, brow scissors, tweezers, and brow stencils that you can use to shape your brows.

First I will review the products used to fill in your brows: The pencils and the brow powders are all very soft and easy to use. They all can be used to create a thick dramatic eyebrow, or you can use small strokes to create a natural brow. I really enjoy using all of these to fill in my brows, and i have nothing bad to say about any of these.

I also enjoy the double ended brow gel that it comes with. It keeps brows in place all day, but my only problem is the color of the tinted side. I have very dark brows, so the tinted side of the brow gel gives my brows this weird color. I love the clear side though. The tinted side may work on some people, but it just doesn't work on me.

I really enjoy the double ended brush it comes with. One side is a spooly that can be used to brush through the brows called the E80; and the other side is an angle brush to apply the brow powder called the E75.

Here is a closer up picture of the brow powders:

And here is a closer shot of the pencils and brow gel.

Next I will review the tools that can be used to shape your brows. The scissors and the tweezers are very nice quality, and I have no problem with them at all. I also enjoy the brow stencils because the can give you guidelines to follow if you do not know what shape/size will look best on your face.

Here is a closer picture of the tools:

Overall I think this kit is worth the $70 price if you love to groom your brows and love using multiple products to get the perfect eyebrow. It seems very expensive, but it does come with a lot of products, and I get a lot of use out of each of these products. If you usually only use a pencil and gel, or a powder and gel you may not find this worth your money though. I have very little problems with this kit, and all the products are nice quality, so I can justify spending this much on this.

I hope you found this review helpful if you have been thinking about buying this! What products do you normally use to groom your brows?

Cranberry And Gold Fall Eye of the Day!

It is the first day of fall, and fall is the best season ever in my opinion. I kinda want it to be fall all year because in the area I live in the summer is brutally hot. Anyways, I have already started doing my makeup in the spirit of the fall colors!

Here is the look I created with gold on the lid and a cranberry/ burgundy color in the crease. Then I did a little winged eyeliner.

This look is very wearable for day time so that's why I love to wear it. Here are the products I used:

I used the burgundy and cranberry shades from my ELF 144 palette.

And then I used Urban Decay Eyeshadows (left to right: Half Baked, Twice Baked, and Oil Slick), Maybelline Color Tattoo in Gold Shimmer, Maybelline Mega Push Mascara, Maybelline Liquid Eyeliner, and Urban Decay 24/7 eye pencil.

Wow, all the products I used were Maybelline or Urban Decay! I just noticed that! Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this. I am going to do a night version of this look soon!
