Review: Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments in Potent Purple

Ever since these new Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments came out I have been dying to try them because I love the Color Tattoo cream eyeshadows so much. These come in 12 different shades and cost $6.99.

Here is the shade 15 Potent Purple which I found in a display at Walgreens:

I usually stay away from pigments and other loose products in general, but I was very happy too see that these have a plastic sifter!

Here are some swatches of this pigment (from left to right): the 1st swatch is without a primer, the 2nd is with a primer, the 3rd is over a Color Tattoo cream eyeshadow in Painted Purple, and the 4th is over a Color Tattoo cream eyeshadow in Too Cool.

I was a little disappointed at how Potent Purple looks on its own. It was kind of sheer and a little patchy. I was happy to see that it is buildable though. It definitely looks better over a primer, and it looks even better over a cream eyeshadow base. I found that it lasts way longer when I use a cream base as well.

Here is a swatch of it applied wet:

I like how it looks wet the best! It is easier to get better color payoff when applied wet, but the only downside is I found it less blendable when applied this way.

Overall I think that this are pretty good. I was disappointed in how it looked on its own, but I really like how is looks with a base and wet. For me it lasts longest with a cream eyeshadow base underneath, but I do get around 8 hours of wear while wearing it wet. When I wore this on its own it faded in less than 2 hours. I do recommend trying these, but definitely play around with all the different ways too wear them and see which one you like best! I will definitely continue using this, but I'm not sure if I would go out and get more shades, because it isn't the most convenient product to wear.

I hope you found this review helpful! Have you tried these before? What do you think about them?

    1. I prefer pressed eyeshadows because they easier and more convenient to use, but sometimes I like to try pigments if the color is unique!

  11. Love this colour and definitely looks best with the base and primer ! I agree it is a little disapointing on its own but I guess that could be quite nice for a everyday look as it's not to bold http://hiddenthoughtsblog.blogspot.co.uk
