Review: New Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Foundation Stick

When the original Maybelline Fit Me foundation came out, I never purchased it after hearing lots of reviews saying that it doesn't work well for people with oily skin. So, when Maybelline came out with this new Fit Me Shine Free Foundation Stick I was very excited to try it out! This foundation is unique because of its anti-shine core that claims to dissolve excess oil and give the skin a matte finish.

Here I have the shade 340 Cappuccino which I got from Walgreens for $8.99. It comes with .32 oz of product and comes in 12 shades.

Here you can see the shine free core close up which contains powders to combat oils on the skin.

Pros:
-Decent shade selection
-Blends easily and doesn't feel cakey
-Buildable coverage
-Natural looking matte finish- not overly matte
-Lasts 4-5 hours before I need to blot (which is pretty good for me)
-Stick form is convenient

Cons:
-It is light-med coverage, so I found that the coverage fades before 8hrs of wear
-If I have patches of dry skin it makes those areas more noticeable.

Overall I really enjoy this foundation, and it does do a better job at keeping my skin matte than a lot of foundations. It also is convenient that it's in stick form. It lasted 4-5 hours on me before needing to touch up and blot, but when I use a primer and set it with the Maybelline Fit Me Powder, I do get much better staying power.

I'm not sure how this would work for someone with dry skin because it clings to the few dry patches on my skin. I noticed that using a primer before using the foundation helps with this. It may also be fine if you make sure your face is moisturized well first. If you have oily skin though, and have been hesitant to try the original fit me foundation, I would give this one a try! I will continue using this, and I am definitely going to repurchase it!

Have you tried this yet? Have you tried the Original Fit Me Foundation?

  1. I've tried the original Fit Me foundation, I didn't have too much of a problem with it, but it wasn't anything special. I'll have to give this one ago.

  11. Amazing review. Very precise details on the pros and cons. I really like how you mentioned it's buildable and not cakey. I can imagine this feeling very light on the face, which would be awesome for school or work. Because it's in stick form, it looks very quick and easy to apply. The packaging looks nice and sleek too. :)

  16. I know how flaky and dry skin can be amplified by concealer and powder! That's why sometimes when I apply foundation, I simply opt for one that is for dewy or a more moisturising one, as it will reduce the dryness of that skin.

Thanks for following me my dear ^^ I followed you back too

    1. I kind of fear dewy foundations because my skin is so oily! Maybe they would work for me if I make sure I set it with a good powder. Thanks for following btw :)

  20. Hey I was interested in this foundation stick, I have the original FIT Me in Caramel (350) but this is looking a bit darker. What's your shade reference in MAC since you didn't show it on your skin?
    Thanks :)
