Review: Mary Kay At Play Eye Crayons
Today's review is of the new Mary Kay At Play Eye Crayons which I have incorporated into all of my recent eye looks. This is also the the final review I am doing of the Mary Kay At Play line since I have already reviewed the Baked Eye Trios, Jelly Lip Glosses, and Lip Crayons.
The Eye Crayons come in four different shades: In the Navy, Green Tea, Purple Smoke, and Gold Mine; and they cost $10 each.
Here are some swatches of the different shades:
These shades are very beautiful, and I think they'll be great for the fall season! They are also very creamy, have nice color payoff, and blend so easily. The pencil packaging can be nice because you don't have to dip your fingers in a pot to use the product. These remind me a lot of the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils, and they work very similarly.
I like using these with an eyeshadow primer first, and I usually use eyeshadows over these. I have tried wearing them alone, but they creased and faded quickly. They work so much better as an eyeshadow base than alone for me, and they last all day if I use it as a base. Using these gives the eyeshadows I uses over them so much more dimension, and they look a lot more vibrant. I have been using Gold Mine the most because it looks so pretty all over my eyelids with a gold eyeshadow on top. It is definitely the best for everyday use!
I really like using these because the colors are gorgeous, but I prefer the formula of Mary Kay's Cream Eyeshadows better, since I can use those without a primer. Also the cream eyeshadows don't require sharpening. I think this product could be improved by being a retractable pencil and having more lasting power. Overall these are awesome eyeshadow bases though, and I will continue using them because they add more depth to my eye looks.
What do you think of these Eye Crayons? What is your favorite eyeshadow base?
