Review: Mary Kay At Play Lip Crayons

These Lip Crayons are another part of the new Mary Kay at Play line which I have been using a lot recently. If you want to learn more about the line check out my previous reviews on the Baked Eye Trios and the Jelly Lip Glosses!

There are four different shades: Candied Apple, Perfect Pink, Violet Love, and Toasted; and they cost $10 each.

Here are some swatches of each of the shades:

I really like these Lip Crayons because I can apply it to my lips more accurately than regular tube of lipstick. You do have to sharpen these, but they sharpen easily with a jumbo pencil sharpener. These also glide on the lips very easily, and they feel so smooth and comfortable. I definitely feel moisture on my lips when wearing these, and I like the shine that these have because dry skin on my lips isn't accentuated.

The Lip Crayons also have good color payoff! They remind me of the darker shades of the Revlon Lip Butters because you can get a pigmented lip color, but they feel more moisturizing and smooth than a regular lipstick. I enjoy the shade selection too because there is a bold shade, wearable shades, and a nude/natural shade which can all suit many skin tones. Also I get about 3-4 hours of wear with these which is pretty decent, since they don't claim to be long-wearing.

I have been liking this product lately, especially the shade Violet Love. I love the color so much it has become my everyday lip color! And I really like how they feel on my lips because they aren't dry or sticky; they're just comfortable. I also really enjoy the fact that these are priced at $10 each which makes them close to drugstore prices! Also these have a really nice fruity smell, so that makes applying and reapplying these more enjoyable to me. I can't really think of anything negative about this product other than having to sharpen it, but if it were retractable you wouldn't be able to keep that sharp point as it wears down. You'll need to find a jumbo pencil sharpener like the NYX one to sharpen this. Overall I think this is a pretty nice product, and I would recommend trying it out if you are interested in these shades.

  4. ok I may sound crazy but does anyone remember the marykate and ashley makeup line? that label on those crayons looks like that logo so much! Obviously it doesn't help that the words look similar lol. Great review I just had to comment on that little thing.

  13. I really love reading this blog post you wrote here for your readers. I can truly relate a lot to this industry because I use to build with a Network Marketing company called Wealth Generators. Wealth Generators was the first compny I ever worked with in the industry, i'm sure not a lot of folks heard about Wealth Generators Lifestyle but Wealth Generators Compensation Plan is one dang darn good of a comp plan if you ever had a the chance to take a look at it. Your post inspired me a lot so i appreciate this!
