May Favorites 2013

I'm so happy the month of May is finally over because I am out of school and I can focus more on posting more regularly! For me this month was about using my older products that I haven't used in a long time. I've also been using a few new products and they have made their way into my favorites. Here are the products I have been enjoying this month:

Mary Kay Garden Sky Mineral Eyeshadow Trio and Maybelline Fit Me Powder Foundation

This Mary Kay Eyeshadow trio is one of the new products I began using this month. I love the bright green and blue, and having them in a trio is very convenient to me. Later this week I will be posting a review/eye makeup look I did using this trio. Also this is limited edition, so check it out soon if you're interested!

The Maybelline Fit Me Powder is also a new favorite. I did a review on this last month and this month I found myself reaching for it every day. This never feels cakey on me, and it gives me a glow even though its a powder! It is decent for oil control, but my favorite feature of this powder is that it does make my skin look too powdery.

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze and Maybelline Eyestudio Gel Liner in Black

I have had the Maybelline Color Tattoo for over a year now and I have consistently used it since I bought it. My favorite way to wear it lately has been all over the eyelid as a base with the sand color in the Mary Kay trio on top. I honestly think I have a problem where I can't do a monthly favorites without mentioning one of the Maybelline Color Tattoos. If you have not tried these I really think you should!

The Maybelline Gel Eyeliner Has Been another product I have come back to. I reviewed it a year ago I believe. I go through phases where I only want to wear liquid liner, but lately I have been using this gel eyeliner. It is very black and I love being able to apply it precisely on my upper lash liner but also I am able to use it on my waterline as opposed to having to use a liquid eyeliner and a pencil eyeliner.

NYX Megashine Lip Gloss

This is the last product I have consistently been using this month and it is also an old favorite. This lip gloss is a beautiful baby pink color and has a lot of color payoff for a lip gloss. It is bright and comfortable to wear on the lips. I think it's a great color for spring/summer.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my most used products! What products have you been using a lot this month? Have you tried any of these?

Review: Mary Kay Creme Lipstick in One Woman Can

Mary Kay came out with this beautiful lipstick in gold packaging to celebrate their 50th anniversary. I was excited about this new lipstick for a few reasons. First, it is a berry shade and I am slightly obsessed with any type of berry lip products. And also the lipstick has this cool swirl pattern with two different colors.

Although, this has two shades in the tube, when mixed on the lips a medium berry color is produced. It is very beautiful and I think it would look nice on anyone. This is also a satin finish.

I am a big fan of Mary Kay lipsticks because they feel very comfortable on the lips. They give my lips a little bit of moisture and they are not drying at all. I think the lasting power of this lipstick is pretty average. I wouldn't say it is long wearing or anything. It last me about 3-4 hours, but that really depends on if I am eating, drinking, or talking a lot.
Here are some swatches of this lipstick:

-The Left shade is a swatch of the lipstick just swiped straight across my skin trying to keep the colors separate.
-The next is a swatch of the darker color on the lipstick. I had to angle the lipstick to make sure I was only using this color.
-The next from the top is a swatch of the lighter color. Again I angled the lipstick so that I was only getting this color.
-And the right shade is a swatch of the colors all mixed together. This is pretty much how it appears on the lips, but it's nice to know that you can angle it to get a slightly darker or lighter color.

Overall, I think this is a great lipstick! The color is nice and the formula is very comfortable. If you are interested you should definitely check it out soon because it is limited edition.

Ivory 2-in-1 Hair & Body Wash Review

This whole month I have been using this new product from Ivory called the 2-in-1 Hair & Body Wash. I have never really used a product like this before. Most of the 2-in-1 products I have used are shampoo/conditioners or bodywash/moisturizers, so I was very interested to try this out.

This is advertised to clean your body and your hair while leaving everything feeling moisturized, and I believe it does a pretty nice job. The consistency of this is very creamy. When I use this product on my body I definitely feel clean. And when I am done showering my skin feels nice. It actually feels pretty moisturized and it doesn't have that dry, tight feeling that some body washes cause.

I tried this on my hair as well and I thought it was okay. My hair didn't feel super soft when I was done, but it definitely felt clean. Although it claims to leave hair conditioned, my gets dry pretty easily, so I need to use another conditioner along with it. If you have an oilier scalp this should work fine though!

I am impressed with the concept of this product because for around $5 you get a large bottle that you can use on your whole body, including your hair! It's nice to reduce the amount of products I have in my shower. This is a nice way to save money on a product that could work for the whole family. This product really surprised me with the quality and I recommend it to anyone looking for a fresh smelling/ multi-use body wash.

*Disclaimer: I received this product complementary from Influenster, and all opinions are completely honest.*

Colorful Spring EOTD

After watching a few spring makeup tutorials on youtube I was inspired to create this bright makeup look. The tutorials I watched were all very bright and dramatic, but I decided to do a slightly more toned down look.

I used a bright lime color on the inner part of my eyes, teal on the middle of my eyelid, a dark blue in my outer corner, and purple in the crease. Then I used the same colors on my lower eyelid matching the order of the upper eyelid.

I mostly used Inglot eyeshadows for this look except the lime color is from an Elf palette. I also used the white Maybelline Color Tattoo in Too Cool  as a base to make the colors show up brighter. The eyeliner I used is Maybelline Master Drama Liquid Eyeliner Pen, and the mascara I used is the Maybelline Colossal Cat Eyes  Mascara.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the look I came up with for today. Do you like to wear bright eye makeup?
