Revlon Super Lustrous Violet Frenzy Lipstick

Purple is a color I wear almost year-round on my lips, but I definitely wear it the most during the fall season, and the Revlon Super Lustrous Violet Frenzy Lipstick is my favorite shade! This color has been out for a long time, and I was going to mention it in a 'favorites' post; but I think the color is too beautiful to wait any longer to post about it!

You can find this shade at pretty much any drugstore that sells Revlon, but I got this at Walmart for around $5.

I really love the packaging on the Super Lustrous Lipsticks! Even though they are a drugstore product the packaging looks almost like a luxury product, especially compared to the lipstick tubes of other drugstore brands.

This shade has a beautiful, pearl finish, and contains a small amount of shimmer. The shimmer is undetectable when applied to the lips though. Here is a swatch of this shade:

I really like how this lipstick feels on my lips! It is very smooth and creamy, and it doesn't dry my lips out at all. This also lasts a nice amount of time. I can usually get around 4 hours of wear depending on how much I eat/drink/talk etc.

I have a few purple lip sticks/glosses, but I feel like this looks the most 'purple'. A lot of the colors I own say 'purple' or 'violet' in the shade name, but they look more berry toned. This is a shade I will always repurchase because a true purple it can be a little harder to find at the drugstore!

Have you ever used Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks? What's your favorite shade?

Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue

I really can't get enough of the Maybelline Baby Lips! Every time they come out with a new line it takes everything in my power to convince myself that I don't need every shade. And after I finally built up the self-control to avoid getting the rest of the Baby Lips Electro line, Maybelline came out with this new line of medicated Baby Lips called Baby Lips Dr. Rescue!

When I saw the display in Walgreens, I decided on the shade Berry Soft. It costs around $4.

These come in pretty similar packaging as the original Baby Lips, but all of the tubes in the Dr. Rescue line are white and slightly fatter. Most people probably don't notice that these are slightly thicker, but I have my old Baby lips in a lipstick holder, and these new ones don't fit.

The shade is a very natural pink/berry shade. It seems like these have a little less pigmentation than the originals as well. Here is a swatch of this shade:

Maybelline claims that this gives 12hr hydration, and I don't really know about that. That claim seems a little exaggerated, but it is definitely very moisturizing! The only issue I ever had with the original Baby Lips is I felt like they could be a little more moisturizing, and this is exactly the moisture I was looking for. This also has a menthol smell and a cooling sensation on the lips. I find it very soothing!

To summarize, these feel better on the lips than the original Baby Lips, and the moisturization lasts longer. I love to put this on at night, and in the morning I wake up with softer lips. These are also slightly more expensive than the other Baby Lips (around $1 more). I can't really decide if I like the Dr. Rescue line better than the Original and Electro because the colors in this line seem a little more sheer. I think I like all the lines equally, but for different reasons. I really enjoy this product though, and I would repurchase it.

Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquer Polka Dots

The Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquer Polka Dots are a somewhat new addition to the Color Show line (ehh actually they've been out for a few months now, but it still says "new" on Maybelline's website). When they first came out a few months ago they were sold out everywhere I looked, but recently I found all of the shades at Walmart for $2.97 and I went with the shade Pretty in Polka 85.

This polish looks really unique! The color is really pretty, and I like the distribution of the polka dots too! The picture above makes the polish in the bottle look purple (honestly I wish it was purple), but my nails look more true to color.

I was kind of surprised to see that this had sort of a jelly look, and the polish is pretty sheer. I don't have an issue with this though. I've found that it look best when I apply one thin coat and then apply another thicker coat to make sure I get a nice distribution of the dots.

The only issue I have with this polish is that it chips a little easily. I can normally get 3-5 days of wear from nail polishes as long as I uses a top coat, but I noticed some chipping at the tips of my nails after the 2nd day of wearing this polish. I can forgive it for chipping though, because it is slightly easier to remove than glitter polish. Overall, I'm happy with this Color Show Polka Dots polish, and I'm definitely thinking about getting more shades, like Drops of Jade and Blue Marks the Spot!

Review: Urban Decay Deluxe Palette

The Urban Decay Deluxe Palette has been around for a while now! The colors in it always intrigued me, but I never purchased it. However, a few weeks ago when I was ordering from Sephora's website I saw it, and finally decided to get it!

I really love the packaging on this product, and it was the first thing to catch my eye. It is made of cardboard material, and the outside is is a purple, felt material with silver beads across the front.

Inside there is a nice sized mirror, 2 eyeshadow applicators, and the 9 eyeshadows. A small sample of the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion is also included with this palette.

Here's a closer look at the eyeshadows. I think the selection is very nice because there's a good mix of neutral and colorful shades. It's also helpful that they included a black shade in here as well.

The shades swatched here are (from left to right): Fishnet, Honey, Ransom, and Graffiti.

And these are the remaining 5 shades (from left to right): Zero, Peace, Shag, Scratch, and Underground.

All of these colors are shimmery with great color payoff! I prefer the formulation of Urban Decay's newer eyeshadows better, but these are still nice quality. These also last all day with a primer. I think this palette would have been perfect if it came with a few matte shades, but I still reach for this all of the time!

Although I don't really use this palette by itself, I think it is still nice for travel because of the variety of colors. I would probably just grab a few matte shades to go with this. If you are interested in trying this palette I would definitely recommend picking it up soon, because it seems to be getting a little harder to find!

Have you tried Urban Decay before? What's your favorite palette?

Red and Orange Fall EOTD

Although it still feels like summer where I live, I am so excited that it's officially fall! I usually try to incorporate seasonal colors into my makeup, and I feel like I do this best during the fall. If it could just stay fall all year round I would be so happy!

I have a habit of sticking to cranberry, gold, and deep brown colors for my eye makeup during this season, but I was inspired by a few looks on pinterest to try something a little different than I normally do.

I used a light yellow/gold eyeshadow from and Elf palette in the inner half of my eyes, and Nyx Hot Orange eyeshadow in the outer half of my eyelid. Then I used the Nyx Cherry eyeshadow in the outer-v and crease area. On my lower lashline I used a silver eyeshadow from an Nyc palette. Then I completed the look with the Maybelline Master Precise liquid eyeliner, and the Maybelline Big Eyes mascara.

I normally wouldn't think to use these colors together, but I enjoyed how it turned out! What colors do you incorporate into your makeup for fall?
