Sephora Velvet Eyeliner Appliques Review

When most people see a negative review on a product they don't want to buy it at all. Though when I saw that these Sephora Velvet Eyeliner Appliques had a 2 star review on sephora.com and were priced at only $3, I had to try them out! I was curious to see if I could make them work because they seemed similar to false eyelashes.

Sephora Velvet Eyeliner Appliques in Perfection
Price: $3
On sale right now at sephora.com

The packaging is very similar to the containers that false eyelashes come in. This also contains a small tube of glue to apply the eyeliner appliques.

The instructions sounded pretty simple to me. You have to fit it to your eye, and trim to achieve the correct fit. Then apply the glue, position it on the eye, and pat it down until the glue is set.

I found that it was a little more difficult to apply though. I think my glue may have been slightly old because it wasn't tacky enough to stay on my eyes. As you can see in the bottom left picture below, I could not get it to stick on the inner and outer parts of my eyes even though I tried a few times. My eye may have also been a little to round for this design, so I don't think the fit was quite right.

This product was kind of a fail for me, but maybe it would work better with a different eye shape and maybe using eyelash glue instead of the glue it comes with. It also took more time to apply then doing a wing with regular liner.

One good thing did come out of this though. After I took this off it left an imprint of the applique because the glue took of my eyeshadow, and I was able to use that imprint to create a pretty good wing with liquid eyeliner (bottom right picture above). So could act sort of like a stencil if you have difficulty doing winged eyeliner, but it'll probably too much trouble... at least it was only $3! I guess this got 2 stars for a reason :/

Have you ever tried a product like this? Do negative reviews intrigue you too?

    1. Yeah, same here. This seemed like a good idea for special occasions, but on a regular basis it would be a little to time consuming!

    1. Yeah, maybe I'll try this again with some eyelash glue to see if I can get it to work better. I let you know if that works out better than the glue it comes with!

  4. I doubt they'd stick on oily eyelids and like you I think my eye shape won't work unless I cut it =( I didn't know Sephora made these though! Good review.

    1. Yeah I'm not too sure about the lasting power either... I think they need to work on the glue!
