Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Khol Eyeliner Review

As much as I love Urban Decay's 24/7 eyeliners, I'm always on the hunt for a cheaper alternative. And after seeing rave reviews on the Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Khol Eyeliner I had to give it a try!

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Khol Eyeliner in Black
Price: $4.49+
Available in most drugstores along with Rimmel's website
10 shades available

This liner comes in a standard, pencil form and it sharpens with ease. It glides on the skin very smoothly and it's very creamy.

Below you can see a swatch of the Urban Decay 24/7 pencil in the shade Zero and the Rimmel pencil. I think the Rimmel liner is a tiny bit blacker, but it's not something I notice when worn on the eyes.

Although this lasted all day on my eyes, I don't really believe the 'waterproof' claim. Have you ever started washing your face, forgetting that you have eye makeup on? This happened to me when wearing this liner and I noticed smudging. It really isn't a problem for daily wear, but I wouldn't go swimming with this on and expect it to stay in place!

I find this liner very versatile because I can use it on my upper lashline, lower lashline, and lower waterline without any issues. And since it is so creamy, it is great as a base for smokey eyes. Once you blend this out it sets and stays in place.

Since the price and performance of this liner is so good, I would definitely repurchase it. I only wish Rimmel had the color selection of the Urban Decay 24/7 pencils!

  1. I've loved the Scandaleyes Eyeliner for over a year now! They do have a tendancy to smudge a bit, but for me UD Zero smudges a whole more! UD Perversion is the only pencil eyeliner that lasts longer than the Scandaleyes on me! Great review hun!

  2. For pencils I use the Revlon Color Stay eyeliner which is a long-wear liner. I prefer pencils that twist up because I hate sharpening so I also like the essence long-lasting eyeliner which is only a couple dollars but for me it lasts through the day. On the higher end I have been using the Cattiva liner, The blinc (smudge proof, water proof, life proof eyeliner) but this one needs a sharpener. For liquids I actually like the e.l.f black liner, it costs like $1 but it stays put and is thin enough to control the thickness of the line. For gels I love the Cailyn Cosmetics liner, it is very easy to use and has a nice water-poof, long lasting formula.

  3. I love the Nude and Taupe for my waterline and brow, respectively; and the Sparkling Black and Purple for regular lining.

Sephora's Contour Liner Pencils are half the price of UD's 24-7 pencils, and they have a much wider color range than ScandalEyes (they cost more, but still...less than half the cost of one UD pencil.)

  4. I have the nude one and I really like it, need to try out more colours.I agree with the colour selection, I would buy all. One of the best liner out there.

  5. I haven't use this brand, but it seems to have a few of the key things that I look for in an eyeliner, creaminess, smoothness and an easy gentle application.

    Lovely review...thanks for sharing.
