Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Shameless Review

I FINALLY FOUND SHAMELESS. I have been looking for this shade of Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm for months. In my Project 10 Pan a few months ago I decided not to buy any makeup, and I even said in that post that if I find Shameless then that will have to be an exception to my No-Buy. AND I STILL NEVER FOUND IT... until two weeks ago!

I was extremely excited about this shade because whenever you can find a lip color that's actually purple at the drugstore its a big deal to me. And by 'actually purple' I mean a color that isn't berry, fuscia, mauve- I want Barney the Dinosaur purple!

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Shameless
Price: $6-$9
Available at most drugstores and websites selling drugstore/Revlon products

The packaging on this product is pretty much the same as the balm stains and lacquer balms except it has a matte finish like the product inside. It's also nice that the color of the tube reflects the color of the product. This product does not require sharpening- just twist up the silver part of the tube to release more product.

The Matte Balms come in 10 shades; this on is a gorgeous, very cool-toned medium purple shade. From the swatch below you can see how great the color payoff is on this product! I was really impressed!

The lasting power on this product is comparable to most lipsticks. It doesn't last as long as the Balm Stains (and it doesn't claim to), but it lasts a good 4+ hours on my before I need to reapply.

This color can be slightly high maintenance because after I wear it for about 4 hours it gets really patchy and uneven. But the whole time I wear this my lips feel soft and smooth. This product isn't drying at all unlike most of the matte lip products that I own!
I'm so satisfied with this particular Matte Balm! The price point is good, it feels good on the lips, and the color looks great (AND ITS ACTUALLY PURPLE). I plan on buying more shades of this product- maybe some more neutral shades. I'll keep you guys updated on any new shades that I try.

Have you tried any of Revlon's Jumbo Balm products? Which is your favorite?

Co-lab Thursday: Purple and Green Eye Makeup Look Ft. Inglot and Sugarpill Cosmetics

I'm typing this really late a night again because I got bored and started playing with bright colors! But that's actually good because this weeks topic for Co-Lab Thursday is "Color." All of the shades I used are from Inglot and Sugarpill. I never really use purple and green shades together, so I thought I'd try them out together!

Products Used:
-Benefit Stay Don't Stray
-Milani Shadow Eyez in Winter White
-Sugarpill Acidberry
-Inglot Matte 328 (cream shade) on the brow bone
-Sugarpill 2am (bright, medium purple) below the browbone and into the crease
-Inglot Matte 325 in the outer corner, crease, and lower lash line
-Maybelline Master Precise Ink Eye Pen
-Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara

Ooo a rare glimpse at my real eyes! It feels so weird posing a look without my purple contacts in! Now I'm curious how this would look with those contacts. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this look!

Elf Studio Powder Brush Rave/Review

If someone took all of my face brushes and held them over a volcano and told me I was only allowed to save one, I would save my Elf Studio Powder Brush. And that is saying a lot because I have pretty nice collection of face brushes ranging from high-end to low-end. So why would I save the $3 brush over the $20 brushes? My answer is: versatility!

I made a post a while ago (but don't look at it... it's 2 years old and kinda embarrassing), and it featured a collective review of multiple Elf Studio brushes, but I felt like this brush deserves it's own post.

I appreciate the professional look of the black handle, and I love the synthetic, black brush hairs because they don't stain easily. This is called a "powder" brush, but it can be used with liquid/cream and powder products because of the synthetic brush hairs. The brush hairs are also extremely soft!

The density of this brush is perfect to me because it is dense enough to flawlessly buff in liquid foundation and powder foundations, but it isn't too dense to dust on a small amount of powder to set your makeup. On an everyday basis I have been using this first to buff BB cream or liquid foundation into my skin, then I use the same brush to apply powder and set my makeup.

This brush is easily my favorite face brush because it is so cheap and easy to use! I know this isn't even a new product, but I just love it so much!

What's your favorite face brush? Have you tried this one?

Born Pretty Store Gel Eyeliner Review

I finally back (for real this time I swear) with another Born Pretty Store review. I had the oportunity to try out this gorgeous gel eyeliner, and I am amazed again at the quality for such an inexpensive product!

Born Pretty Store Gel Eyeliner
Price: $4.29
Available at bornprettystore.com

The packaging is just a basic plastic jar, but the product inside is mesmerizing (well it is to me because of my purple obsession). This product comes in 23 different colors, and this is the shade #10.

This shade is a beautiful, deep purple with shimmery finish and a creamy, smooth texture. The texture surprised me a little because it is different from all of the other gel liners I've tried. Imagine a slightly whipped version of a regular gel eyeliner, and that's exactly what this feels like! Even though the texture is different than what I'm used to, the color payoff is excellent!

Here's a swatch of the product:

I had no issues with lasting power for this product. I applied this early in the morning and by night time I saw no fading or creasing. I also find this product very versatile because it works great as a gel eyeliner and an eyeshadow base. I'll post some looks using this as an eyeshadow base coming soon!

I recommend trying this out if you are looking for an affordable gel eyeliner that comes in lots of shades! If you want 10% off, I have a coupon code: AALH10. Also Born Pretty Store offers free worldwide shipping, so I highly suggest that you check out their site!

Born Pretty Store 10 Color Eyeshadow Palette Review

Wow, I haven't posted in forever, but I'm finally back with a review on the Born Pretty Store 10 Color Eyeshadow Palette in the shade #2!

Born Pretty Store 10 Color Eyeshadow Palette
Price: $10.99
Available on bornprettystore.com

This product is housed on a sturdy, slim, black compact with a mirror, and it also comes with a small, sponge-tip applicator.

The colors in this palette range from light to dark, and most of the shades are cool toned. There is also a nice mix of matte, shimmery, and satin shades!

Here are swatches of the top row:

And here is the bottom row:

I was impressed with the texture and pigmentation of these eyeshadows, especially for the price! All of the shades above were swatched without a primer, and although some of the matte shades are slightly powdery, with a primer I have no issues with texture or color payoff! All of these shadows feel smooth and buttery and blend very easily.

I also had no issues with lasting power because with an eyeshadow primer these eyeshadows lasted the whole day without creasing on my eyes.

This palette is small, but it is very versatile. I have used it to create soft, day-time looks, and smokey night looks. I also like how the top row is neutral and the bottom is more colorful.

Here is a purple look I've done using this palette:

If you haven't tried anything from bornprettystore.com  I hightly recommend trying them out! The products have great prices and shipping is free world wide. I will definitely check out some more products from them in the future!

(Btw almost done with all my finals, so I'll be posting regularly soon!)
