November Favorites

I go through phases each month where I love a particular type of makeup product. Last month it was lip products, but this month I was loving natural eyes and lips with a focus on cheek products.

1. Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Flush: This is one of my favorite blushes of all time. Tarte's blush formula is spectacular, and this color is gorgeous. It looks sort of crazy in the pan, but once it is sheered out, it can look very natural.

2. Benefit Watt's Up: I've been really into highlighters this month too, and I've been loving the convenience of this product. I just swipe it on my cheekbones, nose, and cupid's bow and blend it out. This color has a champagne tone, so it looks really nice on my skin tone.

3. Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant Mascara: This mascara is part of the Sephora Birthday this year, and it does an amazing job at lengthening and volumizing my lashes! It's been my most used eye product this month because I haven't been wearing a lot of eyeshadow or eyeliner this month. Maybe I should change my blog name?

4. Paula Dorf 2 + 1 For Brows in Brunette: This brow powder has been a staple in my routine ever since I tried it last month. I like that it comes with two different colors, so I can mix them and create my perfect shade. I might change me name to mascarabrowpowdergirl! Nevermind, that just sounds bad!

5. Mary Kay True Dimension Lipstick in Sienna Brulee: Sienna Brulee doesn't look too exciting in the tube, but it is an awesome nude lipstick color for me! This goes with every makeup look that I do too! If you have a deeper skin tone, this is a color you should try out!

Here's swatches of the Benefit Highlighter, the Tarte Blush and the Mary Kay Lipstick:

What products have you been loving this month? And did you take advantage of the $10 Sephora deals on black friday? I picked the wrong time to go on a no-buy...

Paula Dorf Aztec City Eyeshadow Palette and Teal Mascara

I'm am still new to the Paula Dorf brand, but I've been loving the products I've tried so far. Today's review is of the Paula Dorf Aztec City Eyeshadow Palette which is $36 and the Teal Mascara which is $22.

The sleek, black packaging is very sturdy, and has a nice mirror. Inside are five eyeshadows, along with a double sided brush.

The Eyeshadows: The moment I first touched these eyeshadows, I could tell that they were of very high quality. They feel very smooth, and they are not powdery at all. With a primer, these last all day without fading and creasing.

The first three shades are shimmery, and the last two shades have a matte finish, so there's a nice arrangement of finishes. I also like the shade selection. There is a shade for blending, one for highlighting and one for deepening the crease as well as two gorgeous lid shades.

Here are swatches of each shade. The teal is my favorite because it is a duo chrome with gold shimmer.

The Teal Mascara: When I first heard about this mascara I thought it was going to be very bright, but it is actually a very wearable shade. The brush is traditional with bristles spiraling around the wand, and the formula isn't too wet or dry. I don't find the formula or the brush to be anything special, but the shade is so pretty as a pop of color on the lower lash line.

I was really impressed with these eyeshadows, and I highly recommend them. They are definitely worth the price for the quality, and it contains shades that I could use on a daily basis as well as a nice brush. Also, the teal mascara looks nice with the Aztec City palette because of the blue shade in the palette.

Have you tried Paula Dorf Cosmetics? Have you tried any color mascaras?

Also, if you purchase the Aztec City Eyeshadow palette, you can get a free Teal Mascara! Just use the code: TEAL.

Makeup by One Direction Limited Edition Beauty Collection Tins

The newest addition to the Makeup by One Direction line is 5 tins including eyeshadows, eye pencils, lip colors, and nail polishes, and each tin has 1 of the 5 band members on the front. I was given the opportunity to try 3 of the 5 tins. Keep reading to see my thoughts on these great holiday gifts for One Direction fans!

Here are the 3 sets I received. Each one has the same exact products inside.

This palette includes 6 eyeshadows, 1 eye pencil, 4 lip glosses, 1 lip top coat, and 2 nail varnishes.

The Eyeshadows: These colors are great for fall/winter and I like the shade selection included. I found them to be a little powdery, but this is fixed with an eyeshadow primer. They apply smoothly too, and I also don't experience any fading or creasing when I use a primer. I would have liked for a light, matte, cream shade to be included for blending and highlighting, but otherwise, the arrangement is pretty good.

Here's a look I did using these shades (with the exception of the shade underneath my brow as a highlight).

The Eyeliner: I'm wearing the eyeliner in the pictures above, and I found it to apply very smoothly. I felt like it could have been creamier and a little blacker, but I think it is good for girls who are just starting out with makeup.

The Nail Varnishes: There are two polishes: one is a sheer, hot pink with shimmer, and the other is a clear top coat with chunks of silver, pink, red, green, and blue glitter. I think younger girls will have fun with these two shades. Since the pink is sheer it has a sort of jelly appearance and the glitter will look pretty over lots of different shades. I recommend layering thin coats of the glitter to get your desired opacity.

The Lip Glosses: The four shades included are a hot pink, a medium pink, a frosty, light pink, and a nude color. The hot pink and medium pink are very sheer, but the frosty and nude shades have a little more opacity. I find these to apply very smoothly, and they feel very comfortable. I don't find them to be sticky at all.

The Lip Gloss Top Coat: This is a clear lip gloss in a tube pictured next to the glosses in the pictures above. It is stickier than the lip glosses, and contains glitter. This is pretty to wear on the center of the lips, or to add glitter to any lip color.

Here are swatches of the four lip glosses, the lip top coat, and the eye pencil:

Overall, this is a pretty nice set. The quality isn't outstanding, but I think this is really nice for girls who are just getting into makeup. I know One Direction fans will appreciate this. The packaging and the tin itself also felt sturdier than the original Makeup By One Direction The Looks Collection. If you are interested in purchasing this click HERE to see what store near you will be selling this collection.

Modere Beauty Box Review!

Have you ever heard of a beauty box that allows you to try out the products to decide if you like them before paying full price? I hadn't until I heard about the Modere Beauty Box!

The way this box works is you order the box which includes 4 generous samples, a free gift, and full sized versions of the samples. Then at the end of the 7 day trial, which begins when you receive the box, you can decide if you would like to keep the full sized products or send them back with the prepaid shipping label included in the package! If you keep all of the products, you will be charged a one time fee of $79.99. You can even just keep a couple of the products and send the rest back, and you'll only be charged for the products you keep!

I was so impressed when I saw the packaging of this box as well as the size of the samples! A little information booklet is included inside which gives you more information on each product and how the program works.

Here you can see the 4 samples, and the 5 full sized products (the Dual Action Eye Gel is a free gift),

Antioxidant Gel
Our Antioxidant Gel is a powerful, vitamin-C-enriched formula that begins working immediately to brighten the complexion. Married with other rich oils and vitamins, it will moisturize and strengthen your skin’s natural defenses, improve and firmness, and smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

This is my favorite product in this box because I've been looking for a product that will help even my complexion. I have noticed small improvements in my complexion, but I'll have to do an update in a few months after long term use.The texture is amazing! It makes my skin feel unbelievable smooth. I'm very excited to have incorporated this into my skin care routine.

Antioxidant Hair Serum
Hair is often our most defining trait. So it makes sense to treat it with special care. These ingredients pack quite a punch and support your efforts to look good. Kendi oil quickly penetrates to help to seal the hair cuticle. It enhances hair strength that tends to frizz, split and break.

This is my next favorite product! I like using oils in my hair, but I can't stand that greasy feeling, or feeling like the oils are weighing it down. I don't get that heavy, greasy feeling with this product, so I'll continue using it on my hair (also this product has a pump and that's really awesome :'))!

Anti-Aging Serum
While laugh lines and freckles are life’s best storytellers, more than likely you’ve got a trouble area that needs soothing. Modere’s Anti-Aging Serum achieves the perfect balance of preserving the years and enhancing your natural look, with a quick absorbing, fluid elixir that knows no number.

I may be pretty young still, but I think it's never to early to start using anti-aging products. This product feels very light on the skin and it is truly quick absorbing, like the description says! )And this product has a pump too :'))! The texture is thin though, which caught be by surprise when I first opened the tube and accidentally squeezed too much product out! Just keep that in mind if you decide to try this out!

Why exfoliate? To understand, you need to know your skin – especially the skin on your face. It sheds dead cells continuously. But these cells don’t just disappear - they can be sticky and stubborn, needing an extra push. Using our special “Release, Roll, and Resurface” formula, Modere’s Exfoliant leaves your skin in its baseline appearance: cleansed, healthy and receptive to moisturizing nourishment.

This exfoliant is very gentle, yet effective! I've been using this at least twice a week, and I've notice a difference in the smoothness of my skin. This is another product that I can see being a part of my skin care routine for a long time.

Dual Action Eye Gel
Your FREE gift to keep! Our Dual Action Eye Gel is a product you’ll immediately work into your morning routine. It soothes under-eye puffiness and reduces the appearance of dark circles, fine lines, and wrinkles to brighten and renew.

I don't have a major problem with puffy eyes and dark circles, but I do really enjoy using this some mornings. I've noticed that my under eye concealer goes on much smoother after using this.

The Modere Beauty Box is such a unique idea and I highly recommend trying it! Having the option of keeping the products or returning at no cost gives you full control, and can allow you to try products you might have never thought of trying! And these products contain natural ingredients that are great for your skin. I'm excited to have some awesome new products to add to my skincare routine!

TheBalm Top 4 Smoking Hot Looks #2

Here's another look from theBalm Balm Jovi Palette! I'm doing a look based on all of the look ideas on the "Top 4 Smoking Hot Looks" panel on the palette. Check out my first look for more details!

Look number 2 suggests using a gorgeous green eyeshadow with gold shimmer called Lead Zeppelin, and a cream shade called Adagio. It also suggests using Solid Gold which is really theBalm's Mary Lou-Manizer on the face, and Milly as a blush/lip color.

To create the eye look I used an eyeshadow primer, and then applied The Stroke, a deep navy, almost black eyeshadow all over the eye lid as a dark base for the rest of the shades. Then I applied Lead Zeppelin over the dark shade and blended it into the crease. I used Allegro, a light brown shade, to blend the crease area, and I highlighted the brow bone and inner corner with Adagio.

For the fun pop of gold on the lower lash line I used a Mary Kay pencil liner from a limited edition collection last year, but you can substitute it with any gold eyeliner. Next I applied black eyeliner on the lower water line and upper lash liner. I used The Stroke eyeshadow to smudge and smoke out the eyeliner on the upper part of the eye. Finally, I finished the eyes off with mascara.

The Solid Gold highlight shade is giving me the glow in the picture above, and I applied Milly on my lips. The natural lip really balances out the dark eyes.

I've been having fun actually playing with the combos this palette suggests instead of doing the same looks I normally do! This is really making me get a lot more use out of this palette too!

TheBalm Top 4 Smoking Hot Looks #1

Almost every palette that I buy comes with some sort of look book, or eyeshadow guide to give ideas on color combinations to use, and I usually ignore them and they eventually end up in the trash. But in TheBalm Balm Jovi Palette, the color combination ideas are on a panel attached to the palette. I thought it would be fun to challenge myself to actually use the ideas they came up with and do a look for all for of the "Top 4 Smoking Hot Looks."

The first look says to use the Alice Copper and Third Eye Blinded eyeshadows, which are cranberry and light pink shades. I immediately thought to do a soft, romantic eye look with these shades.

I used Alice Copper, the cranberry shade, on the inner corner and outer half of the eye. I also took this shade into the crease. Then Placed Third Eye Blinded, a light pink, on the center of the lid to highlight. After blending the two shades I used Allegro, a medium brown, to blend the edges of the crease, and I used Adagio, a cream shade to highlight.

On the lower lash line I used Alice Copper again by smudging it onto the area. Then I finished the look off with a black pencil eyeliner on the upper lash line and lower water liner, and applied mascara to the lashes.

And I added the Don't You Want Me? blush to my cheeks (which is really theBalm's Frat Boy Blush), and Milly is on my lips in the picture above.

I'm really looking forward to trying out the other looks! What do you do with the look books and guides that come with your makeup palettes?
