NEW Maybelline Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundation Review

I always wanted to try the original Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, but people kept saying not to get it if you have oily skin. So, I was excited when Maybelline came out with the Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundation which runs for around $10 (give or take a couple dollars depending on where you get it). Has Maybelline finally made a miracle foundation for oily skin? Keep reading to find out!

The packaging on this product is very similar to the original Fit Me foundation. It is in a bottle with a twist of cap. And there's no pump, so it's difficult to dispense the product in a controlled manner. I have the shade 330 Toffee Caramel, and there are 12 shades total. I think a few more shades on both ends of the spectrum could be added.

When applied, the finish is matte, just like it claims, and it does do a nice job of reducing the appearance of my pores. It makes my skin feel smooth, and it doesn't feel too heavy. And on my skin it doesn't look cakey; the finish is very natural.

The coverage is my favorite part about this foundation. I would say this is a medium coverage foundation, and in one layer it covers pretty much all of my flaws. You might need to apply one more light layer if you have more darkness and blemishes though. I feel like I could throw this foundation on without adding concealer, and then I could just add some powder to finish off my face.

An issue with this foundation is the lasting power. After 3 hours of wear my face still looks good. I don't see any fading or my oils peeking through the foundation at that point. But when I start to reach the 4-5 hour range, my skin is disgustingly oily that I have to blot it with powder of blotting sheets. I was disappointed that this wasn't long lasting on my oily skin, since it claims to last 12 hours. If you skin is less oily and more normal-combination you might have better luck with this. I can get it to last a little longer if I use a good primer and powder.

Overall, this foundation is just OK. My feelings towards it are pretty mixed. I love the texture, price, and coverage, and the poreless aspect is really nice! But the lasting power is mediocre. Ugh, I'm so conflicted! I think this is a foundation that I will continue to use until I use it up, but I don't see myself repurchasing it because it's not life-changing. If you buy this foundation, make sure you use a primer and a mattifying primer!

  1. I have the original FitMe foundation and I'm still on the fence about it. Great review on this foundation and I will be giving it a miss because I'm personally not a fan of matte based.

    1. I never tried the original, but I imagine it would melt off my face super fast if this one didn't last long!

  2. I really wanted to try this but after reading this I think I might skip it! Your review is super helpful because I wanted to try this because I thought it would keep me matte all day, but in this case it basically would have the same lasting power as the regular maybelline fit me! Glad I didnt get it! Thank you so much for this!

    1. No problem! And yeah I can make this last a little longer with primer and powder, but It isn't really worth the trouble when so many foundations last longer than this!

  4. I don't have much luck with drug store foundations. I prefer long-wear, seamless coverage and I need to be able to test the shades. I wear the MAC Studio Fix and the MUFE HD Foundation.

    1. Same here, but I've yet to try the covergirl 3 in 1 that people with oily skin have been raving about! I'm still on the hunt for my ideal drug store foundation.
