The Japanese Konjac Sponge Review

I don't know if you guys can tell, but I've been on a skincare kick lately! My latest find is The Japanese Konjac Sponge- Activated Bamboo Charcoal which is a facial and body cleansing sponge.

I've never used a product like this before, but claims sounded so great that I had to try it! It claims to be good for oily and acne prone skin, and it claims to remove oil, exfoliate, hydrate, clean, and balance ph.

To use this sponge, it must be soaked with water, and when you soak it, it expands and gets soft. After soaking the sponge, you can massage your face in circular motions with it, or you can use it daily with your favorite cleanser. I have been using this with the Mary Kay Botanical Effects Oily Skin Cleanser.

After using the sponge, I gently wring the sponge out to get rid of the excess water, and I hang it in a dry area until my next use.

Here's a picture of the dry sponge. It looks the same when wet, just a little bigger.

I have been using this sponge daily for the last month, and I have noticed a difference in my skin. My skin is a lot smoother. This is due to the exfoliating nature of the sponge, but this isn't an intense, gritty exfoliator. It is very soft and gentle, so it can be used daily.

My acne has gotten so much better! I have been using a new mask lately, which I reviewed in my last post, so I can't say 100% if it was solely the sponge that improved my acne. I am assuming that deeply cleansing this sponge has greatly contributed to my clear skin.

At only $11, this sponge is very affordable, and so worth it! This is so much more effective than just using your hands to cleanse. Definitely give it a try if you have oily or acne prone skin! And if you have a different skin type, go to www.japanesekonjacsponge.com and check out all the other types of sponges they have available.

InstaNatural Dead Sea Mud Mask Review

Using a facial mask is always my favorite part of my skincare routine, and the mask I have been using lately is called the InstaNatural Dead Sea Mud Mask which you can purchase HERE for $25.77.

This jar comes with 16 oz of product, and a little goes a long way. I can tell that this will last for a very long time, since I've been using it once a week,

When I want to use this mask, I first remove my makeup, and then cleanse making sure it's completely clean. Then I apply a thin layer all over my skin, avoiding my lips and eye area. I let it sit on my skin for 10-15 minutes before removing it with warm water.

On the skin this mask feels very strong and has a tingling sensation. It also dries on the skin, but not completely if you apply a thick layer. Also, this mask, when applied, makes my face feel tighter than any other mask I've ever used! Seriously, if you try to make any facial expression, the mask will not budge! This can be slightly uncomfortable for the 10 minutes that it is on the face, but the results make it all worth it!

After using this my skin looks clearer, refreshed, and radiant. And I have noticed that my skin is producing less oily on a daily basis! Nothing makes me happier than not having to blot the oils off of my face all day! I also haven't had any breakouts since using this product.

Overall, this mask is worth the price, and it is very effective. I don't really have a desire to use any of my other masks since trying the Dead Sea Mud Mask, so that shows you how much I enjoyed this! If you have oily and/or acne prone skin, this is a must try!

NYX Blush in Mocha Review

I've loved the NYX Blush in Cinnamon for years, so I decided to finally try out another shade! This shade is in Mocha, and it is available in Target, Ulta, and nyxcosmetics.com for around $5.

The product comes in rounded. square plastic packaging, and the product inside has a pretty quilted pattern. I would describe this shade as a medium pink with a hint of red.

Here's the blush on the skin. It is completely matte, but it doesn't make my skin look to flat and dead. It does a nice job of adding color to my face. I think it would look great on all skin tones; just use a lighter hand if you have very light skin.

On my skin this lasts most of the day, depending on the face products I have underneath. I can normally get around 5+ hours of wear.

I'm really loving Mocha, and it is just as nice as the Cinnamon shade that I'm always raving about! NYX's blushes come in 24 different shades, so definitely check them out to find a shade that'll suit you best. You really can't beat $5 for the amount of shades and finishes available.

Have you tried NYX Blushes before? What is your favorite shade?

Maybelline Master Graphic Eyeliner Review

I just ran out of my favorite liquid eyeliner, the Maybelline Master Precise Ink Eye Pen, and while I was in Target repurchasing it, this newer eyeliner called the Maybelline Master Graphic Eyeliner caught my eye. It is a lot thicker than what I'm used to, but it's all I've been using for the past few weeks.

I paid around $7 for this product and it is available at pretty much all stores that sell Maybelline products. It comes in a thick, marker-like plastic pen.

The tip of this eyeliner is very wide, but it comes to a pointed tip because it is angled. I find it really easy to draw lines with this eyeliner, since the tip isn't flimsy. On a daily basis I've been wearing a sort of medium sized line, but I have created thin and very thick lines with this product.

Though I can create all different sized lines with this eyeliner, I wouldn't recommend it to a beginner, because since it is so big, the line could get out of control fast!

The formula on this product reminds me of the Master Precise Eyeliner. This is very black, and it wears all day. I don't notice any smudging, however, this isn't a waterproof product (and it doesn't claim to be).

Overall, I really like this eyeliner, and I think it has surpassed my love for the Master Precise Liner. The Master Graphic Liner is very intense, allows me to create different sized lines, and wears all day without smudging. It also dries quickly and does not transfer to other parts of my eye. But remember, it isn't a water proof product, and it may be difficult to use for someone who is new to liquid liner.

To see this in action, check out my last makeup look!

Have you tried this eyeliner? Which liquid eyeliner is your favorite?

Romantic Valentine's Day Eye Makeup Look

Valentine's day is coming up quick, so I thought I'd share an eye look that I did inspired by it. This look is very soft and romantic, and pretty easy to create! And it's a good look if you don't want a dramatic smokey look.

I achieved this look by applying an eyeshadow primer, and then placing a cream colored eyeshadow underneath the brow bone and on the inner corners of the eyes. This will create a highlighted effect.

Then take a medium brown and blend it into the crease and fading it towards the brow bone to create a transition between the brow bone highlight and the colorful shades that will be placed on the lid.

Next take a medium purple shade and blend it onto the outer corners of the eyes, and also blend the shade into the crease, overlapping the brown shade placed earlier.

Mix a tiny bit of black eyeshadow with the purple eyeshadow and blend it onto the corner of the eye, keeping the color closer to the lash line than the crease. Blend these two eyeshadows onto the lower lash line as well.

Then place a light, shimmery, cool-toned brown eyeshadow (I'm having a hard time describing Urban Decay's YDK eyeshadow hehe) on the middle and inner part of the eyelid. Complete the look with black eyeliner and mascara.

Products Used:
-Benefit Stay Don't Stray Eye Primer
-Mary Kay Sweet Cream, Cinnabar, Coal, and Sweet Plum Eyeshadows
-Urban Decay YDK Eyeshadow
-Mary Kay Black Pencil Eyeliner
-Maybelline Master Graphic Eyeliner
-Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

I hope you enjoyed this look! I really like the soft purples and cool toned shades in this look. Are you doing anything special with your makeup for Valentine's Day?
